The project has been born as a way to learn PBC design and for fun. I wanted to have a small pocket computer with a wide variety of expansions cards to connect ot various interfaces. We could say something like the FlipperZero but this is a whole computer so it can also play games! Thus the original button layout of the GameBoy is kept and made functional.
The Controls are managed by an ATMega MCU connected via I2C to the Raspberry, it also manages the power button to turn on the system and safely shutdown the Raspberry. A custom kernel module has been made for the ATMega to handle the controller buttons and the power button
The Raspberry is connected in a way that leaves all the GPIO available for the modules: the atmega is connected via I2C bus of the camera to leave the one available on the GPIO to the modules, also the screen is connected to the composite output of the HDMI, yes you read it right COMPOSITE in 2025.
